Because id pay more than that much hostin the server for a year or 2 while that computer would allow me to host it for 5-10 years.
plus i dont trust off site hosts last tim i tryed one they not only screwed me out of the $30 but the down time was terrible.

why dont people have these specs on their regular computers? thats about what my bot machine is haha

And you really wanna say you let that server run 5-10 years? so many ppl made thousand of dollar by telling the same things to the community. No one will do that, sry.

if i get the host pc built i guarentee the server will be up for minimum 5 years. idk about Empty and all the others hat have a server for a week and get bored with it but im goin to school for programming and i LOVE DOL/DAoC. ive been playing DAoC since BETA me and my dad had the first level 50 arms. back when it took months!

admin your project for make a good server its very cool.. I think that, if all players were to put a few dollars / euro you canget a VPS server to keep up for a few months while to raise money for the dedicated server.
if we all did a donation of 10 USD / euro we could build something truly great.
